    Diffusion recipies?

How hard or is it possible to use AE to create a diffusion similar to Magic Bullet's "Looks" diffusion effect?

I've tried a bit and was unsuccessful, just blurry highlights doesn't really look too good...

It's just a multi-layered glow thing. Use one with a real big radius but low intenasity and then a second, sharper one. Apply to adjustment layers and shuffle around the stacking until it looks right, possibly using even more layers...

Start by duplicating the layer. Add fast blur (or the blur of your choice) sufficient to make the layer quite blurry. Change the blend mode to screen and the project to 32 bit. Adjust the opacityof the top layer and/or the blur to fine tune the look. As a final tweak add a vignette. Here's an example. Top - my daughter as shot. Bottom, blur, screen and 32 bit.
