How do I burn changed subtitles to DVD?

    janled

Help!  I edited some of the subtitles in my project several days ago.  They are on the subtitle 1 track.  The new edited versions of the subtitles have been in that track for several days.  I have saved and resaved and closed the file several times.  Yet when I burn the DVD, the subtitles appear as they were several days ago, not as they now appear in Encore on my screen!

I appreciate that to update timelines for changes in the underlying timelines in Premiere you need to go to the Project panel, highlight the timeline, and click Revert to the Original.  This works, and timeline changes in Premiere then feed through immediately to the relevant Encore timeline.

But the subtitle track is not imported from Premiere or anywhere else, it was typed in Encore itself!  It is updated when you look at it. Yet Encore insists on using the subtitle track of a few days ago (which you can't see anywhere on the screen) when burning to DVD!

IIRC, there was a Bug, when subtitles were changed. The trick was to change the font, then change it back, and the revisions would update.

          Good luck,

Thanks - I did something else before getting your email - I completely deleted the individual subtitle clips I had edited.  I typed new ones in very slightly different locations, i.e. starting a few frames earlier / later.  It seems this time Encore noticed the changes and the new versions of the subtitles were burnt to the DVD.   I am sure your system would work as well.  Jan

              Jan,

Just so long as you got the changes to show up. Thanks for sharing your solution.

              Good luck,

This is one of the many Encore bugs. I use CS4 and W7. Have had the problem several times both DVD and BD.

I saved the subtitle as a text file; opened PPRO: used dynamic link to send the sequence to Encore; brought the saved subtitle data into the new Encore project name and all was ok. I also had a strange thing with images. Loaded an image file into Photoshop (not via Encore). Made some changes and saved them. Change appeared in PPRO and Encore. Did a build. After the build the image that was updated in Encore had reverted back to the previous version and was the one used to build the disc folder! Again the only way to "fix" was to export the sequence again from PPRO which meant a new Encore project and reload the subtitles.
