Windows gives me the pop up screen that states:
InDesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you cna send to us. We will treat this report as confedential and anonymous.
To see what data this error reotry contains , click here.
Then I click there and it shows me 'codes'. so I send the error message and everything closes.
There really is nothing I can tell you of what is happening other than I try to open the program, it begins to open the for a split second it dissapears then comes back on the screen, then the Windows error pop up window.
What more information can I give you!!!
There are little messages onthe "splash screen" while ID is opening. Can you tell us what is in the last one before the crash?
Also, what happens if you try to use a brand new user account?
How would I go about a brand new user account? The program was activated under the previous secretary I have none of the information she used to activate and register the program.

A new user account doesn't affect activation on the same machine, but it will eliminate or confirm the possibility of corrupt user data from the list of things that might be wrong.
