I have a table of contents that is based on 2 paragraph styles: heading and sub-heading. I really love that I can create bookmarks by updating the table of contents but I would like to add one more paragraph style for that purpose: sub-sub-heading. This is easy to add to the TOC, then generate the bookmarks, but when it comes time to publish, I only want my TOC to to display the 2 paragraph styles, while I would like to retain the 3rd paragraph style for the bookmark list.
How do you advise I go about this? Hide the default TOC and use a second, more limited TOC for actual print? Is there a better way?
I'm pretty sure this will work: make 2 TOC styles and generate 2 TOCs. The TOC for the print version will be on the page as usual, with "Create PDF Bookmarks" unchecked. The TOC to generate the PDF navigation should be off to the side of the page with the text box touching the page, and with "Create PDF Bookmarks" checked.
Just be careful when updating the TOCs: you'll need to be sure you select the correct TOC style for each.
Edit: Just re-read your question: yes, do exactly what you said.
