I am interested in buying Production Premium CS5.5, and I have a home network. My desktop will be my primary editing computer, but I'd like to be able to edit from a laptop as well. My question is can I capture video to a network drive (which is a drive attached to a router or switch and is accessible from any computer on the network) instead of a drive attached to a computer? If so, what are the requirements of the network (minimum speed, etc.)?
Only capture locally and then copy the files to a network share. Do not try to capture to the network share directly, since it will lead to dropped frames. Better then download the captured files from the share to a second local disk on the notebook before editing. Otherwise you may need dual teamed 1 Gb network connections for comfortable editing and most laptops do not support teamed connections.
