    Internet Explorer 7 problem

    wision
      I have installed the new Internet Explorer 7 and I have the next problem: I cannot open the links in a new window or new tab. I use getURL command with setting _blank. But the new link open the IE7 in a self window and tab. How can I open the links
      in a new window or in a new tab in same window? (I use Flash MX2004.)

      Thank you for the answers, WISION

          this would probably solve your problem:

          getURL("javascript:yourJsFunctionInTheHtmlPage();");

          or

          getURL("javascript:window.open(...);");

          if there's some bug for IE6 try with fscommand to call a Js function...

            getURL() works very much like a typical anchor tag (hyperlink; <a>) in
            HTML. Have you tested the same approach in an HTML page? (That is, make a
            quick HTML document, add an anchor with a target attribute set to _blank.)
            See of IE7 suppresses the new window for HTML as well.

            I haven't installed IE7 yet myself, but this may just be an "IE7 thing."

            Probably not, actually. If this is a new faeture of IE7, my hunch is
            that IE will be even less inclined to run JavaScript triggered by a SWF.

                wision,

                Are you asking what the JavaScript function is? :) If so, it's
                window.open(), as recommended by anonymous thing. Use Google to find out
                what parameters to pass into that method. Here's a tutorial I found
                quickly:

                http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/javascript/article.php/3471221

                But again, I'm not sure if this still applies with IE7. I haven't
                installed any of the betas, and I haven't installed the IE7 release yet
                either.

                JavaScript can be triggered by getURL(), as explained by anonymous
                thing. It can also be triggered with asfunction and the new (as of Flash 8)
                ExternalInterface class, which is the current recommendation. You
                mentioned you're working with Flash MX 2004, so that choice won't be
                available in your case.
