read the flash help files that introduce you to flash. if you're looking for tutorials, use google to search.
For #2, you can do it however you like, but you'll be referring to graphic items in ActionScript, so might want to create those first. That's certainly not a requirement though. If you were going to load all graphics dynamically, you wouldn't need to know their names whey writing the code.

cs 5 and cs 5.5 have code snippets
6.should i use external programs to do things?that's personal preference but coding and testing in flash, especially when just starting is quicker than using a program (like flash builder to code) and testing in flash.
