There's a script way down in the comments that will toggle spreads on and off in in the interactive export (don't stop at the link to the script that splits the spreads apart).
You guys are AWESOME. I'm working on a HUGE (2000+ page) project, and this is the third time I have come to this forum with a question (after searching thru Help, googling, etc.). And EVERY TIME I have had the answer literally within minutes!
Sorry it took so long. We aim to have the answer before you post.
Maybe I spoke too soon. The script solved the problem of the spreads, but it created another one. Now, when I use the "Interactive PDF" dialog box and specify the page view, none of the page links in the index work. They are there, the cursor becomes a "hand" when hovering over the page numbers, but when I click it doesn't go anywhere. If I use the "PDF to Print" dialog box and check the Hyperlink box, the links all work, but I don't get to specify the page view.
The script apparently does something to the page identification so the link doesn't carry forward properly from the individual book documents to the new single PDF that is created
BTW, I'm using InDesign 7.04 on a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac running 10.6.8, with 12GB of memory.
Color me frustrated. My job deadline is tomorrow, and I thought I was on target to meet that with no problem. After laying out 2000+ pages, I thought the PDF would be a simple no-brainer, but it seems to be the show-stopper.
You can specify page view in Acrobat Pro
And go to the Tab "Initial View"
Yeh I noticed some interactivity is lost when not going in spreads too. It's odd.
I don't do interactive, so I don't have any experience to compare to.
Try toggling the interactive export back to spreads by running the script again, then run the OTHER script (http://www.printisrael.com/indesign/scripts/freeware/SeparatePages.jsx) on a copy of the file (it will be a pain to stick things back togeter after running the script). Export the now-split spreads to interactive and they should stay as single pages, and maybe your links will be preserved.
Thanks for your suggestion, but the views in the Properties Initial View (Single Page, Single Page Continuous, Two-up, etc.) are different from the choices in the Interactive Export dialog box (Actual Size, Fit Page, Fit Height, Fit Visible, 25%, 50%, etc.).
I've been asked to export with the "Fit Page" option. I can get to it in the Interactive export box, but then my spreads meld into single large landscape pages. If I run the suggested Script to turn off the spreads, the page links in the index don't work. If I use the Print export option, the spreads work properly, but I can't choose the "Fit Page" option. Seems I can't get there from here.
