how Acrobat Reader renders PDF text and sends it to Windows

      Hi everyone,

So I'm using Adobe Reader X and running on Windows 7.

This could be seen as a very broad question, however I'm trying to integrate Acrobat Reader into an existing project of mine, and I am having trouble finding out how Adobe sends its PDF text to Windows. Does anyone know what kind of text rendering engine Adobe uses? I've been looking into ICU (International Components for Unicode) and on their site it says that Adobe uses their product for something (maybe Acrobat Reader?) There is also Uniscribe. Really what I'm hoping to hear is that Adobe at some point calls the TextOut Windows API function.

      Anyone have knowledge about this?
