I am exporting my document to send the printer a pdf, but my bleeds are showing after the export.
The document settings have a .25 in bleed, my colored boxes extend to or past the bleed line, and I check the "use document settings" for bleed in the export process.
When I look at the pdf, the bleed marks show up, but the boxes end at the bleed marks instead of actually bleeding.
What is the problem?
You have 2 options in your PDF page marks one is to the 'cropbox' the other to the 'bleedbox'… You probably wanted bleeds with cropbox marks… Then you will see it extends out…
I just found out that when I turned it to PDF it read the finish size, which didn't include the bleed size. When I made the document size with the bleed it worked.
The "correct" way to set up a document with bleed is to make the document size the trim, or finished size of the page, then if not already showing, pres the More Options button to show the Bleed and Slug fields and add a bleed allowance. This will show as an adtional guide outside the page, and it is this added bleed allowance that is used when you create a PDF and "Use Documetn Settings" for the bleed.
