Assuming that you have or plan on getting the CS5 or CS5.5 Suite see www.ppbm5.com for loads of PC configurations running a Premiere Pro benchmark test.
If your system can run Premiere Pro well, it will run most anything Adobe well. I believe that AE also likes lots of RAM.
I'm currently running an i7 920 with 12GB of RAM and a GTX 460SE. Everything Adobe runs just fine.
Jason.... I'm a switcher from FCP. My system should be coming in about a week. Lots of specialized parts. Here's what I'm getting:
Needed a low cost casing to fit everything in my budget
One of the best overclocking boards, with just enough PCIe slots
Intel i7 2600k (2nd generation)
Fastest GTX580 (aside from the water cooled PNY)
Areca ARC-1880ix-12, 4GB cache + cables
System drive and programs
8xRAID3 for projects and media, 4xRAID0 for the rest and pagefile
4 in 3 HDD Cage (standard)
Need more space for the drives
Liteon IHBS212 (LightScribe)
Liteon iHAS524 (LabelTag)
NEC EA232WMI-BK 23” IPS
For programing macros (I’m a fan of macros)
LG 42LV5400 LED LCD 42”
LG BD640C Bluray Player
Mackie 1202-VLZ3, 12 channel Mixer
Good enough for now. Will go with Focal down the road
The only thing different are the RAID disks. I got a call today from my vendor saying he can't get the Hitachi 1.5TB 7K3000. He can get the 2 or 3TB, but they are a lot more expensive. Besides, I need quantity vs capacity. Looking at alternatives right now. Either the Seagate Constellation drives, or the SV35 series (but I'm not too sure about the SV drives). And I'm not too keen on the models listed on the Areca tested drives. Nothing very current. I'm open for suggestions.... Anyone?
