Has SpryAssets become a thing of the past?

Is it being replaced by jQuery plugins? I have IM'd with 2 tech support people on the Business Catalyst site who had never heard of SpryAssets. This is disturbing to me since it is native to Dreamweaver and I thought it would be supported. After all, isn't BC an Adobe product, too???

What is your experience with SpryAssets? Does anyone still use it? It does bother me that the copyright is 2006...

BC was only recently acquired by Adobe (2 years ago) and it not connected with the Creative Suite team directly.  Only recently have they begun to integrate BC into DW so integration is getting better, but it's very possible they don't know or don't focus on what is going on.

I will admit I have zero experience with BC, but I do have some with Spry.  I don't think the SpryAssets is dying.  Actually with the CS5 release and the Widget Browser, there is now Spry 2.0 aka Spry UI ( http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/ui/ ).  The "Spry" that is still within DW and called Spry is the 1.0 release.  Also there are commercially available solutions like Project Seven ( http://projectseven.com/ ) that I, and many others, prefer to use.  There is also the JQuery solution that you mentioned.  So there are a lot of options out there, I think it's just a matter of choice of what you feel comfortable with.  For instance, I do use the Spry Data Sets more regularly than I use the other Spry features because I've spent the time and have a good understanding of how to utilize the code for the data sets.
