I have a comp with 5 precomps in it. But when I do a Save Frame As… Photoshop Layers, I expect to get a PSD with 5 layers. But instead, I'm getting 5 folder groups that contain all the layers in my precomps. That isn't so bad, but I'm using modes and junk that aren't supported by Photoshop, so I'm missing parts of my image because AE isn't flattening each precomp layer before rendering. I don't remember this behavior before (but I don't use this function very often). Is there anyway to control how AE handles precomps when using Save Frame As Photoshop Layers?
Has been this way for quite a while... Create some solids, then use effects like Set Channels to copy the result of your pre-comps to those layers. The PSD export wil lstill include your sub-comps, but also have the flattened layers then...
Exporting a layered PSD has always had blend problems with certain comps. In most cases you can get thing to work in Photoshop, in some you can't. The Set Channels option is a good one. It's the only solution that will work, but it is limited to 16 bit comps.
