hi Aidan, i'm working with Arduinos & Flash + AIR, by now i have succesfully connected flash and arduinos using serproxy only by following the tutorials on Adobe.tv
now i'm looking for connect a biometric finger sensor and an air app, but i do not want to use serproxy and instead i want to use a Native Extension that provide me a connection with serial ports without using a socket server fot that.
this week i'll be experimenting with that and i'll be available con skype if you want to chat with me, contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I really struggled with serproxy, Im not much of programmer if it doesnt involve as3!
In the end I opted for zinc which is wrapper for flash. Within 30mins I was recieving data from my serial device into flash.
I would use Zinc as a very last resort though.
I had not heard of Native Extensions for air before though. Im looking at it now.
There doesnt look to be a native extension currently available for serial devices. Are you thinking about writing your own?
or maybe ask for an experimented developer than me to write one.
Ahh so your going to have a go at writing one? What language can you use for them? Python or somthing?
I am working on publishing an AIR Native Extension that can be used with AIR 3.0. You will no longer need to use the SerProxy application.
Docs and compatibility with AS3glue is coming very soon.
I thought on do the same task but I had no time to do it
thank's a lot men, I will download it and use it right away.
