mentalcase129 Oct 10, 2011 10:54 PM (in response to John T Smith)The error message itself doesn't have any number or anything specific attached to it, it a pretty generic message that literally just says 'error compiling movie,' it also seems to occur pretty early on in the render, it's not like the render is nearly finished and then it craps out. The movie I'm attempting to render is roughly 20 minutes long and I'm trying to render it as a quicktime movie with mpeg-4 compression. The footage is also animated if that makes a difference.
My computer has 164gigs of free diskspace and is running windowsXP(didn't like vista, haven't gotten around to 7 yet). I should also say that this isn't my first rodeo...I'm an animator and use premiere a lot to edit my work. I don't claim to be an expert but I've always been able to make it work for my purposes and have rendered out tons of movies...including several much bigger than the one I'm working on here, on the same computer. I don't recall ever encountered this problem before...I think maybe once I had some sort of similar problem but I was able to resolve it by creating a new project and importing the original project to the timeline...so in that instance it seemed like it was most likely a glitch of some kind...which I was hoping was the case with this one but that same solution hasn't worked this go around.

Bill Hunt Oct 11, 2011 9:15 AM (in response to mentalcase129)With a failure to Compile Video, the first thing that I would check for would be gaps in the Video. This ARTICLE goes into a bit more detail.
If there are no gaps, then I would try to find at what point, the error occurs. You might even want to set up a video camera, focusing on the progress bar, to see at what point the crash occurs. Then, carefully examine what is on the Timeline at/around that point. Could be as simple as a corrupt Asset.
Good luck,
Hunt

Bill Hunt Oct 12, 2011 9:01 AM (in response to tmr022)Adriano,
On your Timeline, before you go to Render, do you have a red line above your Clips?
If not, there is no need to Render, and you will not get any operation, when you hit Enter.
If you have a red line above the Clips, and Enter is not Rendering and turning those green, the most likely cause is that the WAB (Work Area Bar) is set elsewhere along the Timeline. Check the WAB, and if it is NOT over the Clip(s), that you want to Render, just move and adjust it, to cover that/those Clip(s). If you wish to Render the entire Timeline, and the WAB is not covering the entire Timeline, just go to it, and Dbl-click on the little "box" in the middle of the WAB to extend it.
For more details on Render, see this ARTICLE.
Good luck,
Hunt
