If you listen in capture phase, you might get it at the outer parent.
Is LinkElement (which is not a DisplayObject) somehow hooked into the display list event system?
I thought an event was being dispatched off the display list, but maybe not.
I have tried to place event handlers to handle 'click' & 'link' events. I've added handlers for both capture phases and also added them to the stage just to see if that would also work.
I'm working with the TextArea in the mobile enviroment so it doesn't use the TLF.
If you use the htmlText then the user clicks the link it opens a browser automatically. Under some circumstances I do not wish to open a new broswer. So for the test in the eventhandlers I did
just to try and stop the browers from opening. But the browser still opens, so either it's another event that I don't know about or its something hidden. As there is no way of watching all events (unless I'm mistaken) I don't know what to listen for.
Going through the code in the StyleableTextField or TextArea I can't see any events that may be suitable.
Looks to me like Adobe have dropped the ball with mobile text, it was a big enough pain to show html text in a nice formated way.
that's sounds like a great tip. I'll give that a try shortly. Cheers.
That did the job :-)
So for the htmltext you should put in '<a href='event:http://www.adobe.com'>here</a>' where I've added the text 'event:' before the http: bit.
Then add the event listener 'link' or TextEvent.LINK and you can then do what you want with the event when the users clicks it.
