History: I deleted the older version of Adobe Flash Player on my MacbookPro OS 10.6.8, and I then assured that all updates were current for browsers and OS.

I then downloaded current Adobe Flash Player ( . . .183 . . .) which now works within Firefox: BUT not in Safari.

So what do I need to do to have it work on Safari?

both Safari and Firefox utilize the same binary...  it should just work.  you may have to quit out of Safari to reflect the changes.  after you quit, make sure the Safari process is not running via the Process Monitor.  When you verify that, relaunch Safari and navigate to: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ to determine which version you are running.
