Rick Gerard Oct 8, 2011 8:32 AM (in response to Rkenosha)You can either create the smoke using a particle system or a masked layer of fractal noise. Particular would be a very good particle system. The other option would be to look at some stock footage from someone like ArtBeats. Once you've created the smoke layer you position it and set the blend mode to Screen or Add then adjust opacity.

Personally, I prefer using footage of smoke rather than particle effects in almost all cases. It's easier and usually looks better. More information about compositing smoke and steam is here:
