3. Re: Help with getting my logo from illustrator to different formats please
Monika Gause Oct 8, 2011 1:32 PM (in response to simpson246)As long as you haven't drawn anything there, the "background" of graphics in Illustrator is transparent. You will have problems though to export this transparency to file format that don't support transparency at all (like JPG) or to export certain kinds of graphics to formats that don't support alpha transparency (like EPS). Did you use drop shadows or other pixel based effects: then EPS is not for you.
When placing an AI file in InDesign you will also have to remember to import it in a transparent frame.
Did you experience any problems when exporting? Please tell us.

5. Re: Help with getting my logo from illustrator to different formats please
Kurt Gold Oct 8, 2011 1:44 PM (in response to simpson246)You prefer talking in general terms and perhaps you're not going to elaborately describe what you want to do. So I can use it is a useless phrase without knowing the whole context.
However, I'd recommend to take a look at all file formats that Illustrator can save or export. Specifically all formats available inside the Save As command, the Export command and the Save for Web command.
If that procedure is not what you want, then provide some more details. If you just want to hear: Yes, for example .gif, .png, .psd, .tga can handle transparancy, then look if that suits your needs.

What I'm looking to do is get my logo I've created in illustrator out of it so I can add it to images on 'Paint.net'.
So needs to handle transparancy .thanks

Monika Gause Oct 8, 2011 2:17 PM (in response to simpson246)Then you should consult the help files in Paint.net and see which file formats it supports and then export a suitable format. Most probably a PNG could do the trick.
