It's not downloading it's creating them so that it can display the Library (manifest.xml is the library, the .png is thumbnail that gets displayed), so no there's no way to avoid that - short of just not using ADE.
I deleted that as it showed it as an usupported file. Did I cause a problem in returning or reading the borrowed books?
I thnk I solved it but wouls like confirmation. I downloaded another ADE book and the manifest .xml file came with it.
NOw, will the books I had borrowed when I deleted the first file be affected in any way when I return them to the public library?
Nancy, you really don't have to return the ebooks to the library. They will
expire when the loan period is up, and even though the file remains on your
computer, you will be free of any obligation to the library. But you won't
be able to read the library books after expiration.
I noticed that at our library system ebooks have a long wait list- so- I want to return them asap if I am done before the lending date.
I learned how to delete them from the computer so I guess I am set for now.
I understand you desire to help others. If you did want to return the
library book early, you can do that 'sometimes' - depending on how the
library set up the loan period and what software they used. It can get
complicated, so letting the ebook loan period expire works every time!
This has been a relly interesting learning experience! I appreciate your help.
I checked with my local library and they welcome early returns .I guess it depends on the individual system, the number of copies for downloading and the wait lists. I suggested that the libray conduct mini classes for those who are new to or anticiipating borrowing ebooks and they are going to do so!
I will pass your input along to make it easier for newbies like me.
