1. Re: Can't Find Any Printer Quality Options In PS CS5?
jashayden Oct 11, 2011 9:47 AM (in response to Ian R. Brown)I am having the same problem PLUS a failure to print the item in color. I get a grayscale output. Checked the printer by printing from another application and it is working as expected. Maybe someone can answer both of our questions.

Chris Cox Oct 11, 2011 10:42 AM (in response to Ian R. Brown)Clicking "Print Settings" should bring up your printer's options dialog. If not, then there is a problem with your printer driver..

Ian R. Brown Oct 11, 2011 11:13 AM (in response to Chris Cox)All the options are available in other apps but you could be right.
I suspect that upgrading to Snow Leopard 2 years ago may have also modified/replaced the original driver.

Joseph.A.Salinas Oct 11, 2011 12:11 PM (in response to Ian R. Brown)After clicking Print, you should receive a second dialog, where you can then choose more print options. Hope this helps.

5. Re: Can't Find Any Printer Quality Options In PS CS5?
Ian R. Brown Oct 11, 2011 12:27 PM (in response to Joseph.A.Salinas)I'm afraid that doesn't work either.
On pressing "Print" it simply goes ahead and prints it at what seems like the fastest setting.
As mentioned above, when using other simpler apps such as Preview, I have countless printer and paper handling settings etc. etc. but not in Photoshop CS5 or PSE 8.
How weird!
I'm using OS X 10.6.8 if that helps track down this bug-like occurrence.

Jeffrey Tranberry Oct 11, 2011 5:03 PM (in response to Ian R. Brown)It would be helpful to know the printer model and the driver version you are using. You should visit the printer vendor's website and make sure you have the absolute latest driver specified for your OS.

Are you running Photoshop CS5 as a 64-bit application? The odds are that unless you've specifically updated your 2200 (I'm guessing here based on your screenshot) that CS5 can't print when launched as a 64-bit app. Command I (as in i) on the Photoshop icon and set it to launch as a 32-bit app. Then see if you can see the printer's options. I really don't know if Epson has a 2200 driver (or whatever printer you've got) that can print from PS as a 64-bit app. Also, the odds are good you'll want to be sure you have the latest driver anyway. If in the US go to Epson.com and check to see if there's an updated driver for your printer.

Tai Lao Oct 11, 2011 10:16 PM (in response to Jeff Schewe)That's not an Epson 2200. The dead giveaway is the "R" before the model number, which indicates a printer with the glossy clear transparent glaze cartridge, absent in the 2200.
Try the Epson R220:

Same deal with regards to a 64-bit driver and making sure the driver is updated...would have been useful if the OP had stated his printer from the start.

Ian R. Brown Oct 12, 2011 12:07 AM (in response to Tai Lao)Thanks everyone.
I had checked that my drivers were the latest before I posted and even replaced them in case they were corrupted.
It is indeed an old Epson Stylus Photo R220 as you would see clearly if you clicked on the photo to enlarge it.
I thought the 64bit mode sounded promising but unfortunately it didn't make any difference whether I launched PS as 32bit or 64bit.
Anyway, the simple solution appears to print using Preview which gives me every adjustment that I need.

100% in agreement, on both accounts.
Though it may not have come across in my response, I meant to imply that you had provided the correct solution to the problem, and I was just steering the OP to the pertinent Epson page.

Some Epson drivers, regardless of whether they are 32 or 64 bit, are smothered by some of the later versions of OS X. Unfortunately, Photoshop 12.x does not run under Tiger.
