Have you asked this question in the Flash Catalyst forum? You may get a better response there.
Yes I did and no one knew how so I am sure it can not be done in Catalyst - which is why I am trying to find out how to do it in Flash Pro.
I read all the 'adobe help' on sound for flash pro and found nothing that mentions 'how to' control the sound in that way.
I followed their on-line instructions to get a sound to 'play' and 'stop' using buttons and not even that worked so I am lost to be honest.

Here's a relatively simple example for playing/pausing and controling the volume of an internal sound file. Let me know if this helps.
I will study the code and I am sure I will learn from that example. Appreciated.
I really wish to discover how to make a sound only play once until finished though. When I first bought CS5 I read it somewhere in the Flash Help Guide. However I started to use Catalyst first as a stepping stone and now the Flash Help Guide has changed. The reference I found a few months ago has now vanished. My Help Guide has now changed to CS5.5 which is frustrating because obviously I use CS5 still.
I am trying to work out how to change my Help Guide back to CS5 but I think I am not going to succeed.
Thanks for the zip though Rob - I shall refer to that for future projects as a guide
Thanks again Rob. I will study the code and work out what you did.
