I just installed InDesign CS5.5 and everytime I place an image in a box, InDesign scales it. I open a lot of old files and replace art so I can not have this.
At first I thought it was just reducing to fit in box but then I noticed some enlargement too. For example. I placed a pdf that was 8.75x11.25 in an 8.5x11 box at 100% Then when I selected the same box and placed in a pdf that was 8.5x11, it enlarged it to 8.75 wide automaticly. I wanted it to be at 100%. Is there a setting in the prefs that I am missing?
My autofit box is not checked. Please help. I am gettting very frustrated.
Thanks in advance.
Is the issue with placing or replacing art? When replacing art, what you have described is typical of the scenario of replacing art that has a different crop to setting than how the original art was placed.
It happens on both. When I am replacing art I am choosing media. But the pdfs are different sizes because they are totally different art. I did this all the time in CS4 and it would not resize. I would only have to recenter.
But I have had it happen when I am choosing media on the same image (The only difference in the two was the color profile) as well. It reduced it to fit in the box when I had the previous version of the art at 100%
It is now a preference item whether dimension or scale factor is preserved on re-link
