Thank you for the link. I went to it, and even downloaded the SmartSound program, but I have not installed it. I thought that my problem was that PRE 10 installation program, detected something of SmartSound and that is why it rolled back its installation attempt. That was why the instructions I had said to remove the files I listed in my post.
Are you saying that if I install the downloaded SmartSound program first, and then installed PRE 10, the installation would complete properly?
I guess I could try that, but I want to make sure that is what you are suggesting.
Could you please provide screenshot of the error message that you are getting. Also, please provide following log files as well so that we can debug this issue: -
- C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\PRE10STIInstaller1.0 <Date of installation failure in mm-dd-yyyy format>.log.gz
- Start -> Run -> %Temp% -> PRE10.log
- Start -> Run -> %Temp% -> Elements10Organizer.log
Thanks for the reply Gaurav.
I was not able to find the first file. In my 64-bit Vista laptop, there is no Installers folder under Adobe.
I have attached the other items you requested.
Thanks for helping.
On 64 bit machine, it is located at location:
- C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\PRE10STIInstaller1.0 <Date of installation failure in mm-dd-yyyy format>.log.gz
Further, I have not received your other docs. Could you please help me out how I can retrieve your attached docs. Also, you can mail docs at mailid: firstname.lastname@example.org
Have you tried deleting all Smartsound entries out of the Registry?
Not for beginners!
Or check Smartsound Support they are usually pretty helpful.
I just talked to a guy there who said Smartsound SonicFire is integrated with Pre10 so that must be why it is happening.
Over the years, the team at SmartSound has been great. Unless I contacted them on late Friday, the answers came by the next business day, and every question has been answered perfectly.
Thanks to all of your for your comments to help me solve my problem. My original problem was with the final beta release of PRE 11. A few days ago I received the boxed version of PRE 10, and it installed without a problem.
Did you say PRE 11?. (Just Kidding...i know you meant to say PRE 10).
You are absolutely right. Sorry about that.
