    Simple 'go to nextFrame' not working - any ideas?

    Poncherello

      Hi all,

      This seems pretty basic but for some reason I absolutely can't get it to work. I have a set of buttons which I want to be able to send their parent movie to the next or prevous frame.

      I want to use a NEXT and PREVIOUS button, both combined within a single movieclip, to tell a parent file to go to next and previous frame.

      this doesn't work:

      previous_btn.onRelease = function(){

                this._parent.prevFrame;

      }

      next_btn.onRelease = function(){

                this._parent.nextFrame;

      }

      this doesn't work:

      previous_btn.onRelease = function(){

        _parent.gotoAndStop(currentFrame - 1)

      }

      next_btn.onRelease = function(){

        _parent.gotoAndStop(currentFrame + 1)

      }

      this does work(but doesn't solve my problem as there will be any number of frames - it just demonstrates that the buttons work)

      previous_btn.onRelease = function(){

        this._parent.gotoAndStop(1)

      }

      next_btn.onRelease = function(){

        this._parent.gotoAndStop(2)

      }

      Any help is appreciated.

      Cheers
