    update pop-up menu for button

    dberke
I've set up buttons on my site for navigation. I created them in Fireworks and the "Products" button has a pop-up menu that changes as I add pages for my products. How can I universally update the button on all pages in Dreamweaver? Right now, I have to go into every page and click the fireworks icon and then update each page individually. I'm obviously not really familiar with Fireworks. Here's my link,

      www.iip423.com/case-sealers.html

The Porducts button on this page is updated as far as the completed pages go but there will be more pages to come.

Thanks for any and all help!

          Donna,
The answer is in Dreamweaver not Fireworks. I don't think a Fireworks
pop-up can be a DW Library item but, it can be part of a template page.
Any child page created from the template would be updated automatically
when the pop-up (or any other included element) on the template page is
          changed.

Besides the DW help files, here is a link to a template resource....

          http://www.dreamweavermx-templates.com

Then there's the FW menus themselves. If you end up investing the time
in template pages then maybe a new menu system also. There are many
problems with them. For information go here....

It can. But you need to understand Library items *and* the (ugh) pop-up
            menus first.

It would work if the fw script was already present on the page?

Never mind, the script is what would be changing too.

                Just for my own curiosity.......

Can a chunk of script be kept as a library item and placed in the head
                of the page?

I'm assuming you would need to make the pop-up and script two separate
                library items.

I don't think you can put a library item in the head of the page. I'd just
                  do a snippet.

No, you would make the Library item be the HTML part, and the script would
be an external link in the head (not a Library item).

After trying unsuccessfully to incorporate a template in DW I went back to FW. The only way I could find to update that button was to open each page individually, edit the button from DW to FW and retype the pop-up menu each time. I tried to export it out of FW and to clone it and low and behold, all of a sudden each page had the new menu on the button but I had to edit it from DW to FW, update it in FW and go back to DW and save the file. This worked great for about 12 files and then all of a sudden DW started crashing. Now I can't do anything without it crashing. Does anyone know what I messed up???

                    Thanks, Donna
