I'm embarassed to have to ask this basic question, but also surprised that I couldn't quickly find the anwer in the ID user guide. I wish to import or open and RTF doc which contains several pages of text. If I open a new ID doc & import the text, there is no automatic flow of imported text past page one. I would think that additonal pages would be created by default, or at least a prompt asking how to handle the overflow. If I add pages, they don't continue the text flow from page 1. I'm guessing this will have to do with master pages. I know the answer will be painfully obvious, but only work in Photoshop now, haven't worked with page layout for years. Patient answers appreciated. Using ID C4.
Also, is there a way to set up a default doc (master page?) with a blank text frame which can accept multple page import?
OK, I finally found it. Must use "shift" key when clicking "loaded text icon" into page. This sets auto flow & adds pages to accomodate text. Still, this important feature seemed somewhat buried in the user guide.
Use file>place and shift+click on the page where you want the text to start.
New pages will be added automatically.
