1. Re: NTSC project timeline length is shorter on actual burned DVD
Stan Jones Oct 24, 2011 6:15 PM (in response to Danielpremiere)the length of my timeline is 3;16;36;09.
My PAL versions is exactly 3.16.40.00 on both!!
So the procoder conversion shortens the total by just under 4 seconds?
You don't say: are you transcoding in Encore? What settings, etc. I wonder about your conversions and the difference between 25fps, 30fps, and 29.97 etc. For some purposes, it doesn't matter, but for others it does.

Danielpremiere Oct 26, 2011 2:43 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Hi Stan,
Thanks for the message. It appears that the conversion does shorten the total, though I'm not sure exactly why it does this, I'm sure it's to do with the frame rates. This is not my concern however, it's why the timeline in an Encore NTSC project appears 12 seconds shorter on the burned disc, a bit like a stretched elastic band being slighty less tensed!
Transcoded out of Premiere CS3 using Matrox Media encoder to M2V and AC3 and imported to Encore as compliant.
Thanks

Stan Jones Oct 26, 2011 7:05 AM (in response to Danielpremiere)Transcoded out of Premiere CS3 using Matrox Media encoder to M2V and AC3 and imported to Encore as compliant.
So it shows "do not transcode" and does not transcode it? I agree it is odd!

Danielpremiere Oct 26, 2011 7:34 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Hi,
That's right - shows "Do not transcode" and it certainly wasn't trascoded within Encore. Anyone any thoughts??

cristian.alexe Oct 27, 2011 5:30 AM (in response to Danielpremiere)Just a thought, but really just a thought. 12s in 3h16m36s is 0,1%. 8s in 2h18m47s is 0,1%. 29,97fps to 30fps is also 0,1%.
