I've made a wired book of about 500 single pages via data merge (text and images).
At the end i will need 2 versions of the book: a printed copy - without hyperlinks and an online version - with invisible hyperlinks.
Is it possible to add the hyperlinks also in the xls database? so they are linked with the database and at the end clickable in the pdf (the online version)?
otherwise i have to add all 500x2 (cause there are sometimes 2 or max 3 hyperlinks on 1 page) manually …?
Or is there another way to import - automatically - more than 1.000 hyperlinks in one document?
Thans for your reply.
I can't offer you an answer, but I wanted to let you know that I moved your question out of feature requests and into the general discussion forum whre you have a better chance of getting an answer quickly.
AFAIK it can't be done during the merge itself - indesign will only knows that the information is text, not that it is a hyperlink (e.g. <a href="www....">address</a>).
However, it is possible to do once the file is merged. Go to this link for a script that will convert character styles to links.
It works under CS5... SO LONG AS the script file is saved into a folder within the scripts folder called "Version 4.0 Scripts".
