(or maybe: this.removeMovieClip(); I always forget which is the targeted reference mc)
first instinct was the right one Ned: myMovie_mc.removeMovieClip();
'myMovie_mc' being the instance name assigned in the second parameter.
thanks for the responses but it is still not working, here is my script. I must be doing something really dumb. Also it seems that when ever I click the button to load the movieClip in from the library, it loads inside the movie clip I used to load it in. I dont know why this is happening. any suggestions on this would be well appreciated.
you need to use:
btn1.onRelease = showMovie();
btn2.onRelease = removeMovie();
when I put the '();' on the end of showMovie, and removeMovie functions it does not allow me to load the MC from the library. But the problem was I had 'this.attachMovie' once I removed 'this' it worked fine.
