1. Re: Why "can not find or create the font ..." even the font is installed in ~/Library/Font?
Phillip Jones Oct 29, 2011 7:21 AM (in response to asdfabcedasf)I installed it and it worked fine for me.
Try installing by
- Double click on font to open Font Book and install from There.
- Use a Font utility such as "Font Nuke" to remove Font caches.
- Then Resart Computer.
- Next open acrobat before doing anything else and let it rebuild font cache
Then open a PDF
- Click the T button in the Ribbon (Acrobat X) (Text Edit).
- Select a Word.
- Click and hold on the word until context menu pops up
- choose properties
- go to Font and see if you can change font Zaph Chancery- Medium Italic
- Choose. then click out of edit box and view result.

I did the above steps. But I still get the same error. Then I reopen Font Nude, and I only have 4 font caches, AcroFnt09.lst AcroCMapFnt09.lst
AcroComFnt09.lst AcroSysFnt09.lst
If the above steps fails, I think that the following steps won't help. BTW, I only have Acrobat 9 rather than X.
Then open a PDF
- Click the T button in the Ribbon (Acrobat X) (Text Edit).
- Select a Word.
- Click and hold on the word until context menu pops up
- choose properties

3. Re: Why "can not find or create the font ..." even the font is installed in ~/Library/Font?
Phillip Jones Oct 29, 2011 8:11 AM (in response to asdfabcedasf)In Acrobat 9 go to tools menu and look for Text edit. You can choose to show all and it will show up on Menu bar. those font cahche listed are the ones you want to get rid of (They will be rebuilt next time you next time you open Acrobat, Reader, or Distiller.

4. Re: Why "can not find or create the font ..." even the font is installed in ~/Library/Font?
asdfabcedasf Oct 29, 2011 8:32 AM (in response to Phillip Jones)I think that you are referring to the 2nd element on the 3rd row in the toolbars. Is it correct? I don't understand where I'm suppose to see the font cache in acrobat. Would you please post some screen shot to make it clear? Thanks!

5. Re: Why "can not find or create the font ..." even the font is installed in ~/Library/Font?
Phillip Jones Oct 29, 2011 8:57 AM (in response to asdfabcedasf)It has been so long since I have used 9 but yes that would be correct.
look at this screenshot. Don't pay attention to the number 10 would be 9 instead for you:

But location should be the same. With Distiller and Acrobat Closed just Trash both folders. They will be rebuilt the next time Acrobat and Distiller are opened.

6. Re: Why "can not find or create the font ..." even the font is installed in ~/Library/Font?
asdfabcedasf Oct 29, 2011 10:11 AM (in response to Phillip Jones)~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat$ find . -type f -name '*.lst'
./9.0_x86/AdobeCMapFnt09.lst
./9.0_x86/AdobeComFnt09.lst
./9.0_x86/AdobeSysFnt09.lst
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat$ grep ZapfChancery `find . -type f -name '*.lst'`
./9.0_x86/AdobeSysFnt09.lst:FontName:ZapfChancery-MediumItalic
./9.0_x86/AdobeSysFnt09.lst:FamilyName:ZapfChancery-MediumItalic
./9.0_x86/AdobeSysFnt09.lst:FullName:ZapfChancery-MediumItalic
./9.0_x86/AdobeSysFnt09.lst:MenuName:ZapfChancery-MediumItalic
./9.0_x86/AdobeSysFnt09.lst:FONDName:ZapfChancery-MediumItalic
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat$ rm `find . -type f -name '*.lst'`
While Acrobat is closed, I run the above commands. Then I open the problematic pdf file with Acrobat. The font problem still exists.
I also see the following file, should I delete it?
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/Distiller 9/FontCache$ dir
PSHFList
