I'm trying to create a extension for flash pro that generates a swf, and injects code to loaded data from an external source. I'm currently trying to use URLLoader to access the external url, but the problem is I get all the security error messages from the Flash Player stopping this.
Is there a way to call a 'safe' url from a swf run locally?
I haven't tried this in a while but have you attempted using <swfobject> tag in your html wrapper for the swf file? I think swfobject is written by google or hosted by google developers but in any case it is easy to find using a web search engine.
You should be able to adjust your player security settings to allow certain content to be played/accessed when testing locally. Search Google using "Flash Security Settings" and you are likely to find several resources with information that will help you.
