I recently purchased a Nikon D7000 along with Premier. (I have been using Final Cut for many years but am trying to broaden my editing software horizons) When I import my footage off my SD card it is all in .mov format, which I read is compatible with Premier. However, only the audio is importing correctly, no video files. I have been researching like a mad man for some help to no avail. Do I need to enocode the video first? Any suggestions?
One more thing, I am using Premier CS5.5
You need QuickTime 7 installed. But beyond that, the Nikon MOVs don't play correctly in Premiere Pro. The workaround is to change the extension from MOV to MPG, which forces Pr to use a different importer/handler for the files, and playback will be much smoother. If you do that, you don't need QT installed.
