I'm a PC and need to export files suitable for a Mac user. Currently files are NTSC DV avi's. What generic format to export so they can view and/or play in iMovie etc.
I'm sure it's Quicktime mov but there are so many different flavours/codecs and I don't use Mac so where to start? I'm on CS5.5 and I also have Quicktime Pro.
Thanks in advance.
All you need to do is to convert the wrapper from AVI to MOV. Google for a utility to do that for you. The contents will be left undisturbed and you will not have quality loss.
You shouldn't have to do any of that. QuickTime and QuickTime-based applications can open DV AVIs, so you should be able to use the source footage without any conversion. Joe's right though: you can export DV AVIs to DV QuickTime MOVs using Pr or AME (in a batch) and it's a lossless rewrap.
