JSS1138 Nov 6, 2011 6:00 PM (in response to 12towers)Avid will cost you money. If you want to spend money, you're better off spending it on the CS5.5 upgrade.
The world is moving to 64 bit. Time to join us.
Having said that, the only advice I can offer on this issue is to reinstall everything, from Windows on up. But if you want to go that route, well... My earlier advice stands.

What version?
If you post your case number for your interaction with Adobe Technical Support, I'll follow up and see what I can find out about your case.

12towers Nov 6, 2011 8:03 PM (in response to JSS1138)You call that an answer. Time to join us?, I've done over 300 Television shows with this setup. Untill we start broadcasting HD I was going to use this setup. I was in the middle of an edit. Jim Simon, The support was awful, and I mean awful.

5. Re: Insert Disc 1, Can't Reinstall Software
Todd_Kopriva Nov 7, 2011 8:25 AM (in response to 12towers)That's a very old version. You say that you're trying to use this software on Windows 7, but the system requirements for that version of Production Studio say that it requires Windows XP. Windows 7 didn't exist at the time that this set of Adobe software was created, so there's no way that we could have developed and tested he software with Windows 7. That means that we can't support the software on that operating system.
I recommend installing on a computer running Windows XP.

You can purchase the CS5.5 suite, which comes with 32-bit After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4.

12towers Nov 7, 2011 8:25 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)I've been using on this computer with Win 7 since it came out two years ago. Never had a problem then. Let's face it, this is an easy out for you. No investigation into the problem, Just ... This version didn't support Win7 go to XP. So If I install on a computer with XP (assuming I can) will you then support this product?

Todd_Kopriva Nov 7, 2011 8:38 AM (in response to 12towers)We don't provide official support for versions this old. However, we can informally provide support on this forum. But the first step has to be that you install the software on a system that meets the system requirements defined for it.

John T Smith Nov 7, 2011 8:39 AM (in response to 12towers)I don't work for Adobe, but I will say NO, Adobe does not support out of cycle products
As far as I know, CS5 is not even receiving updates, now that CS5.5 is out
Adobe is not alone in that policy, Microsoft does the same

That's not true. The 5.0.4 update for Premiere Pro CS5 and the 10.0.2 update for After Effects CS5 both came out after CS5.5 was released.
Regarding technical support (rather than bug-fix updates): We provide technical support though official channels for the most recent three versions. But we'll try to help out on forums like this going back even further as we are able.

12. Re: Insert Disc 1, Can't Reinstall Software
Stan Jones Nov 7, 2011 10:31 AM (in response to 12towers)I have a non-video application that I need to keep running. My choice was to stay with WinXP or to test the app on Win7. It appears to work on Win7, but some of the custom code I wrote will not. Still trying to write code that works (no time!).
I wonder if you can run something other than audition under win7 to handle that part of the task. I still use Cool Edit 2000 (but haven't tried on Win7.
One option I did not explore was whether it might do better running under the Win7's XP emulation mode. Curious; has anyone explored that?
I would also explore whether you can sort out how to reinstall just the missing library without a full audition install.

For the record, I'm not an Adobe employee providing "support". I'm just a user like yourself who has an idea that will most likely solve the issue.
But, I can't make you drink the water. I can only let you know the Oasis is on the other side of that mountain. You decide for yourself how thirsty you are.
