I'm thinking that, for some reason, your clocks are not synchronised. That
would account for the 'license' message - the wrong time would be used to
calculate when the library ebook was to be returned. Reloading ADE, etc.
won't do any good if this is the case....
Nothing to do with the Nook, it's ADE trying to return a Loan that has expired, repeatedly. To get rid of it:
- Close ADE.
- Delete your (My) Digital Editions/restore/tasks folder.
- Restart ADE.
and it shouldn't bother you.
Thank you for trying to help. The License thing seems to have resolved itself, probably because I deactivated, deauthorized and deleted the program from both the Nook and computer and then reinstalled everything. My only problem now is that when I connect my nook, Digital Editions closes. DE works fine when Nook is not involved. It transfers library books to computer and I can open and read library books on computer. I just can't transfer them to the Nook because it DE closes as soon as Nook is connected.
Any suggestions for this situation?
Thanks for trying.
I also don't know how to do what you suggested. Could you give me step by step instructions ..... I'm not very well versed in computer stuff.
The way I read what you've written below, it seems as though you've tried
to install ADE on the Nook. If this is true, then I think that may be part
of your problem. ADE is installed ONLY on your computer. The Nook has the
necessary software loaded on it from the factory to manage ebooks and
interface with ADE.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for trying to help. After deactivating, deauthorizing and deleting programs on computer and nook the license thing seems to have resolved itself. Now I need to figure out how to resolve the following: DE works fine UNTIL I connect my nook, that's when the program closes. So I can download and read library books on my computer but not on my nook.
Can you help figure out this problem?
I did check the synchronization of the clocks on the computer and the nook and they match. But thanks for the suggestion.
ADE is not actually loaded on the nook from the factory. It loads onto the nook when you connect the nook to the computer the first time you connect after downloading the program. I know this because B&N tech services had me delete ADE and all related files from my nook and my computer. When I reloaded ADE back onto my computer and plugged in the Nook, ADE files were back on the Nook
No. ADE is never loaded onto the Nook. The only 'files' that are on the
Nook related to ADE is one small file that is created when you register the
Nook with B&N's website. If the B&N tech's are telling you that ADE loads
files to the Nook, they are not correct.
