    Slow Printing of PDF

I support a banking environment where PDF files are used for most all loan-related documentation, especially property appraisals.  Users have begun to experience extremely SLOW printing of these PDF files.  Here is a description of my environment:

      • 20-page PDF (4-6MB in size)
      • Actuall spooled file may end up being 60MB
      • Windows 2003 Server Print Servers
      • Windows XP and Citrix terminal clients
      • Fractional T1 and DSL communication links
      • Acrobat Reader 8.2.6, 10.1.1
      • Ricoh Aficio MP C3300 (in this example)

User sends file to printer.  Print server generates spooled file in a few seconds.  Print queue show progress of printing, which creeps by, a few KB at a time.  A file like this may take 45 minutes to print.  Our communications links to the remote location where the printer actually resides show little usage - they are not maxing out at all.  We have tweaked documents and printer settings to no avail.

      Any ideas?
