I am having an issue with reusing key frames. I have a multiple images with contain approximately 10 layers featuring keyframes. These images are the same shape, just different colours, and i want to apply all the key frames of one of them, to all of them. Is there a way to do this, and if yes, how?
I am relatively new to after effects, so all the help is really appreciated!
Highlight the layer with the keyframes. Reveal all the keyframes by hitting the u key. Highlight all the keyframes by one of two methods: 1) lasso them or 2) cmd-click (ctl-click win) on the property names on the left side of the timeline. Copy. Highlight the new layer. Paste.
Piece o' cake.
Additionally to what Dave suggested, you can also use basic pickwhip expressions to link animation across different layers or comps.
another time-saver I use when I want similar effects to more layers is animate one layer first, duplicate it, then Alt+drag another source from the Project panel over the selected duplicate. This preserves all transforms/effects applied to a layer but replaces the source.
