JSS1138 Nov 10, 2011 8:37 PM (in response to chande a k)Explain to your client that the original was not shot in high definition. DVD is the best it'll get.

Bill Hunt Nov 11, 2011 9:00 AM (in response to chande a k)I think that Jim's suggestion is best, but you might want to do a test with an up-rezzing program, like Red Giant's Instant HD, and run the results by your client.
Good luck,
Hunt

Bill Hunt Nov 12, 2011 6:52 AM (in response to chande a k)Yes, I do believe that the trial version does add a watermark. You will need to judge the quality, and just disregard that watermark for now. The BD RE is a good way to complete your testing.
If the results are adequeate, once you buy the program, it should no longer include the watermark. Do not recall if the trial needs to be uninstalled, and a new installation performed, but usually just adding one's S/N turns OFF the watermark. Red Giant will have instructions either way, and just follow those.
Good luck, and hope that the quality is adequate. It has been for many, with their particular footage, but has not been quite good enough for some so - YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary).

chande a k Nov 14, 2011 9:53 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Hunt, result was shwon to my client for his approval., he is not satisfied., now I am re-editing old SD footage for DVD.. Instant HD did not work as per expactation. some of my friends have suggested that Upsizing with Hardware will work...not upsizing with software.. For the moment I have dropped the idea of upsizing.. Thank you all for your kind suggestion and help

Bill Hunt Nov 14, 2011 10:13 AM (in response to chande a k)Sorry that Instant HD did not get you what you needed, but that is the beauty of using a trail, before buying. Also, showing the client the likely results, keeps you from doing a lot of work, only to have the final rejected. The "R&D" only cost a little time.
Good luck,
Hunt

John T Smith Nov 14, 2011 10:19 AM (in response to chande a k)I don't know the EXACT number formula, but trying to uprez SD footage to HD is, I think, about a 1 to 4 operation... in that HD has about 4 times the actual resolution... which is NOT just the screen size, but also includes the bit depth of each pixel
Find a balloon and write a word on it with a felt marker... likes good at normal size... then blow the balloon up and look at the word... not so good

JSS1138 Nov 14, 2011 2:51 PM (in response to chande a k)Upsizing with Hardware will work
That's best achieved during playback. Let the Blu-ray player or the HDTV handle the scaling.
