Just sharing really and not even a complaint - I've reported the bug - but this explains a previous loss of data I could never explain, and I thought it might help someone. RH9, Windows 7

1. Find and Replace in Files

2. Add a search term

3. Decide you've mistyped the search term

4. Try to edit the search term pressing Delete on the offending character

5. The field has lost focus and won't delete (it gets focus when you start typing a new character)

6. Look over to your left at the TOC window (if showing)

7. Your TOC entries are gradually disappearing as you repeatedly press Delete in frustration

8. DON'T save your project!

Hi there

You likely aren't aware of this, but most seasoned RoboHelp users long ago learned it's best to avoid going near the "Find and Replace in Files" feature of RoboHelp. You are much better off using a separate utility such as FAR.

...it's not the first bug I've reported in F&R. I've got FAR anyway, so will back away and use that. Unless I'm looking for some danger. Odder still, I duplicated the bug 3 or 4 times consistently and then showed a colleague. It worked flawlessly then of course.

LOL, isn't that always the case? Sort of like the "critical need" sensor built into every PC. It senses you really need something and promptly crashes and refuses to come back until the time of need has passed. Then, of course it resumes operation as if nothing was ever wrong!
