1. Re: Feature request: include history recovery in exported metadata
Lee Jay Nov 16, 2011 6:24 AM (in response to WilderW)So, the photo and state both exist in the image file and XMP data anyway. You're just asking for saving how we got to that state. I'm not really sure why that's important to you.

WilderW Nov 16, 2011 6:36 AM (in response to Lee Jay)At present - if I re-import an orphaned DNG file (or move a DNG file between two separate computers) - I can see the final develop state of the photo and the rest of the metadata (tags, exif etc.) but I cannot see (or revise) the processing steps that led to those develop settings. Having this capability would ease moving photos between catalogs and offers some additional recovery if a catalog were damaged and not otherwise available from backup.

Lee Jay Nov 16, 2011 8:52 AM (in response to WilderW)I understand that, I've just never found the Develop history to be useful for anything. It's nothing like the History palette in Photoshop.

4. Re: Feature request: include history recovery in exported metadata
WilderW Nov 16, 2011 9:58 AM (in response to Lee Jay)Well I've thought of another useful purpose. It is interesting (to me at least) to review the processing steps others have taken in developing their photos. This could be easily facilitated with the capability I suggest.
It should be easy to implement - the editing steps are textual descriptions so it should not require a great deal of space within a photo.
