is there any bugfix?
besides the upgrade to CS5.5, which i have to pay for ...
Have you updated CS5? The updates should still be available. If you haven't done them, look under Help>Update.
yes, all applications are up-to-date.
there seems to be a workaround. the illustrator-files need to be saved as CS4, then it works. at least the final rendering in AE itself. if i use a script like BG render, which uses the terminal and the ae-renderer, it still doesn’t work.
but thanks anyway!

Sorry to say, aknle, I use Illustrator files in every After Effects project I do these days. I have never had the issue you are describing. I often receive files form external artists that I need to change to RGB from their CMYK originals. I often need to fix their art because they are print people and think of white as the paper and the absence of ink. But the files open and track and update for me flawlessly. Always have.
I am on CS5 (not 5.5) using a Macintosh.
Sounds more like the Illustrator files are corrupt, and upgrading to CS5.5 wouldn't fix your issue. Either export your AI files to PSD or copy-paste your artwork to a different AI document.
yeah, same here until the update to CS5.
yes I've had problems with illustrator files in after effects cs5. they often will not load into the ram preview, the ram player just sticks when it gets to the point where the ai file appears.
so I just save out the ai file as a high res bitmap and that seems to do the trick.
i have all the latest adobe updates installed also
never encountered this problem until cs5
I had some similar problem and i guess i solved it.
Well the fil i use is on 2 artboards, it it takes more area to render.
So, i just scaled down the 2nd artboard in ai for give it only the space which is required.
and now everything is running fine...
May be it will help you.
