    Magnification Problem

I have Adobe Reader 10.1.1 running on Mac OS 10.5.8.  Downloaded pdf files or text files scanned as pdf always open at some unusually large magnification, e.g.,173% or 150%. How do I find a setting that allows me to keep it at 100%?

          Adobe Reader>Preferences>Page Display>Default layout and zoom>Zoom: Set to 100%.

This solution worked only once, even though I clicked "OK" after doing the setting ~graffiti suggested.  Most of the pdf fils open at 116% or ~150% even though I have done what ~graffiti suggested.  Each time I hae to set the magnification to 100%.  The file stays at 100% only until I close it; upon re-opening it is at whatever magnification it originally opened at.  Evidently there is another step or steps needed.  Further suggestions are requested.
