    Error closing Adobe Reader 10.1.1.33

    ibonomi Level 1

      Good morning,

just after upgrading to Adobe Reader 10.1, when I close the program (with single file and also with multiple files open), the program gives an error:

      AppName: acrord32.exe AppVer: 10.1.1.33 ModName: acrord32.dll
      ModVer: 10.1.1.33 Offset: 001fc864

Also the Event Viewer records the Application error ID 1000 with the same reference codes.

I'm using XP SP3, and I had no problems before installing version 10.1.

      Any suggestions?

      Thanks

      Ilario

I am also getting this behaviour.

If I open a PDF and leave it open for over a minute and then close acrobat I get the error.

          Windows 7 SP1

Ditto issue here, for several months. Has no measurable effect. When you close or save and close a .pdf message follows stating that Reader has HAD to close, despite the user having TOLD it to close! Error is intermittent. Event viewer states: Faulting application acrord32.exe, version 10.1.1.33, faulting module msvcr90.dll, version 9.0.30729.6161, fault address 0x00025bc3. I am XP Pro SP3. A nuisance.

Same problem here. In my case the EventViewer states an error in  ModName msvcr90.dll, Version 9.0.30729.6161.

Really annoying to need 2 clicks to close the program. One for the prog itself and one for the error-message.

                Hi there,

I'm getting the same problem. Adobe 10.1.1.33 crashing when I close the application.

Irritating! Might be to do with IE8, in my case. I had a corrupt Abobe file in 'Objects' there, a month or two ago. Got rid of it, but there may be something else. I might try reinstalling IE8 and see...

No ideas from anywhere as to what's causing this?

Upgrade of video driver to latest has not helped, still getting an error after closing a PDF tab in my browser (Firefox):

                    "AppName: acrord32.exe AppVer: 10.1.1.33 ModName: acrord32.dll"

Adobe Reader was written in Visual C++ 2008. So it uses the Visual C++ v9.0 redist files. It would seem that Adobe Reader X doesn't like MSVCR90.DLL if past SP1 version. I can only assume that the security lock down Microsoft put in the Hotfix releases. ie. versions 4181 and 6161 is incompatible with the Adobe Reader X which was probably compiled on platform version 9.0.20102 (Original) or 9.031472.1 (SP1) version. I fixed the issue by putting the files back to the SP1 version of the file for now but would indicate that Adobe may need to re-compile Reader X with the newest file version available. MFC hotfix was 6161 version of your side by side libraries for a stable system. Good Luck.

Thanks, TimD_CSC! Whilst the intimate technical details are not my territory, if Reader is out-of-date relative to the latest MS hotfixes, then at least that gets the user off the hook.

This is a very good point, but also other programs use MSVCR90.DLL. (in my case, Autodesk Design Review 2012, for example). If I replace the library, I fear that some other programs will give me problems. At the moment I’m using version 9.0.30729.4148. The file is stored in the C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_Microsoft.VC90.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4148_x-ww_d495ac4e folder, but I also have other versions (like 9.0.30729.1 and 9.0.21022.8) stored in other system folders like the one before.

Doesn't Adobe plan to recompile the Reader following the latest libraries? this would be the better solution for the problem!
