About 9 out of 10 times After Effects crashes when I render a project. It varies from "trouble reading frame" to "problems with render module", and a host of others. I noticed this problem with AE CS5, thought it would be fixed when I upgraded to CS5.5, then to the latest patch. Still, it crashes.
Man, I remember when After Effects just worked, it was a beautiful thing. I think AE 7 was the last solid release and I'd still be using it if my G5 was still working. I upgraded to CS 5 when I got an Intel machine and that's when the crashes started. Frustrating.
Any ideas on how to actually make AE work as it should? Love the program but these lates releases are some buggy stuff.
Also, the video preview monitor goes black every few minute, have to refresh in preferences. I'd love it if this software would just work.

This comment is a dead giveaway - you are using video hardware with a bad/ incompatible driver/ Quicktime component, but you left out all important information like what Mac, its configuration, which version of OSX, your monitor setup etc., so how do you expect anyone to be able to help you? People really are gonna need much more info rather than pointless complaints. Otherwise AE works just fine for hundredds of thousands of users....
