How to make child controls private in composite mxml component?

      Hi All,
If I'm creating a composite MXML custom component in Flex, in this case based on mx:Form, how do I hide the internal controls?

If I don't give any child tag an 'id', the host app won't see the child tags, fine.
But if I do give ids, then the host app can point to the child tags (labels, text inputs, etc) directly.

If the custom component was made in ActionScript, I could declare the child controls with the 'private' access modifier.
But how do I do that in MXML? Is it possible?

Any help would be great thanks
