1. Re: Video not displaying properly and not exporting.
reindeer4 Nov 28, 2011 12:58 PM (in response to reindeer4)Still getting similar problems. This time I have a dynamic link to one complicated AFX CS4 precomp which lasts for about 4 minutes. Barely plays inside of Premiere; when I hit play, the video will start but it quickly just stays on the same video frame while the audio plays. If I hit stop and then play again, it will advance to a new frame where the CTI is and then freeze there.
I tried pre-rendering a few seconds inside of Premiere, and now that part is solid black when I hit play - and when the CTI gets past that section, it goes back to displaying video briefly till it freezes on a new frame again.
Using Windows Task Manager, Premiere Pro is using between1-2 GB RAM, and After Effects close to 3GB RAM - and I'm guessing that's my problem since these are only 32 bit programs (even though I'm on Windows 7 with 24GB RAM).
If anyone can confirm whether that's the likely problem or suggest a workaround I'd appreciate it.
May try a trial of the 64 bit programs to see if that fixes things. Had downloaded AFX and Premiere Pro separately, but don't get dynamic link that way so may have to look at the suites.

2. Re: Video not displaying properly and not exporting.
able123 Nov 28, 2011 3:52 PM (in response to reindeer4)dont know for certain ..you would need to supply more info about your platform ... but sometimes visual problems ( playback on program monitor etc and black stuff ) is relelated to video graphics card. do you have latest drivers for that card etc?? go to card OEM for latest drivers..
otherwise youll need to supply more info about a lot of stuff to help others help you
note:
is there a way to run legacy programs on your 64 bit os ??? think i read something about that... like help make 32 bit programs more friendly to newer machines. etc?
thats just another idea.

My video card's drivers were pretty out of date, and updating them did help with previewing things more smoothly, though the overall problem still remained. Upon downloading trial versions of the 64bit programs the problem went away - so I'm guessing it had to do with running out of memory in the 32bit programs. (and to answer your question, there's no problem running 'legacy' 32 bit programs on my system - indeed, except for Photoshop, all of my Adobe programs are 32 bit.
