If you want to overclock the unlocked CPU, you better improve the PSU to at least 600W. For the rest no remarks.
Build looks good.
Suggested tweaks include:
- pay $30 more to step up to the same 32MB cache WD Black model but w/ 2GB of space; the increased size will be good and the additional platters will give it a bit more speed (yes, even though WD's web site shows all drives to have similar speed within a "series")
- get Intel or Crucial SSD; too many "issues" with Vertex 3 (and yes, I've read about the latest firmware being much better); why risk it? You don't want to lose your OS at any time even if you have a full image backup
- check out lighted keyboard options; I love mine for darkened room photo editing
Thanks for the responses.
I have no plans to overclock--does that answer mean I might consider a different CPU?
I will make the HD and memory changes. The lighted keyboard sounds cool, I'll check it out, although I plan to mostly use a Wacom tablet.
You could do without the 'K', so the i5-2500.
