1. Re: Document print 'size' help
RenéG Nov 25, 2011 1:59 PM (in response to auctioneer)You say the print size is too small; what size is it?
In the Print dialog box, would you have "Fit to printable area" selected? If yes, turn that off.
As an additional note, why do you "export as PDF and then print"? You can print directly from the .psd

2. Re: Document print 'size' help
auctioneer Nov 25, 2011 3:41 PM (in response to RenéG)I don't know the exact size it's printing, all I know is the client responded complaing the size was wrong. The PDF's were shipped to Staples Office Depot where they were printed from the PDF. I'm going to try sending the file out for print as a .psd and see what happens.

3. Re: Document print 'size' help
RenéG Nov 26, 2011 11:38 AM (in response to auctioneer)Then the error is at their end.
They're probably printing it "Fit to printable area".
I doubt they can accept .psd

4. Re: Document print 'size' help
Bo LeBeau Nov 26, 2011 12:06 PM (in response to auctioneer)As RenéG said, the default print setting will slightly reduce the actual size on the printout.
However, I believe is may not be the problem experienced at Staples.
All printers, not just Staples, Kinkos etc will set an item like this as multiple ups on the same sheet to decrease the number of pages they have to print (which also reduces their costs)
This is done since many copier/printers leases will change by the click (page printed), If they can place it 4 or more up rather than 1 per page, they can greatly reduce their click charge and save themselves money.
in this case, Staples will probably attempt to place them 5 up using the full width of the 8.5 paper
Of course, since most printers can't print to the very edge, things may get cut off. Or they may reduce the printout slightly to avoid this.
However, either method would probably result in items that are slightly smaller than 8.5 x 2 inches.
When sending items out for printing, you should explain that the items need to be the exact size specified and that if they are not exact you won't pay for them.

5. Re: Document print 'size' help
auctioneer Nov 26, 2011 8:14 PM (in response to auctioneer)I checked with Staples and their printer will not print edge to edge, therefore I cannot get the full 8.5" width. Okay.... so what I've done and not tested yet is create a blank canvas 11 x 8.5" landscape, pulled 3 of my signs (8.5 x 2") onto the new canvas centering them so there is lots of blank canvas on the outside and created a PDF for print. Now I'm hoping when I go to Staples in the morning this will solve my problem. I'll let you know.
Thanks..
