Did a basic search and couldn't come up with much.
When I import my DSLR footage. h.264 in mov format, premiere conforms it. Is that conforming my video, audio, both? Why does it do that? Do I need that? Can I turn it off?
Conforming is for audio. Pr is converting the compressed audio into a 32-bit PCM format, so that effect processing can work with greater resolution and preserve better audio quality. It's also supposed to make it easier for Pr to playback the audio, which sort of sounds like nonsense considering that video is far more processor intensive and Pr can handle all sorts of different video formats without conversion.
You can't turn it off, unfortunately, but you could make a feature request here: Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form
good answer. thank you!
